Acne is a condition that many of us deal with particularly as teenagers. However it may also affect us as adults. While acne may appear on other areas of the body, the face is the area that is usually affected by acne the most. Acne can cause damage to the long term condition of the skin on the face, but there are microdermabrasion acne treatments that may provide some positive results toward reversing the negative effects of acne.

Microdermabrasion is a method that can reverse damage that has occurred to the skin as a result of numerous conditions. Acne is only one of the conditions that may affect the skin, others include over exposure to the sun and pollution and other damaging agents.

This treatment consists of a non-abrasive technique that involves the use of a spray of microcrystals intended to remove the outermost layer of skin. Acne may cause permanent markings on the skin of the face. This damage is usually contained to the top layers of skin.

Microdermabrasion is intended to scrub off the layers of skin that have been affected by acne and other factors that cause damage to this skin. This treatment is also known to encourage a new layer of skin by affecting the elements of the skin that may instigate skin growth. These elements known as elastin and collagen are elements that help the skin return to its original condition after it is poked or pinched. By causing elastin to react to the treatment, the skin of the face reacts in an elastic like manner. This allows the conditions of the skin to be improved and may help the skin recover from effects such as those caused by acne.

Microdermabrasion treatments are non-invasive as opposed to other methods that may be invasive. These more invasive treatments include skin resurfacing and laser skin resurfacing or chemical peels. These methods are known to provide positive results but are more involved and take more time, and money.

There are various methods of microdermabrasion acne procedures that can provide positive results. One popular method is known as crystal microdermabrasion, this is the traditional method that has been used for years. Crystal microdermabrasion involves using tiny crystals to perform the exfoliating process. The crystals are blasted using high amounts of pressure in a small area.

Diamond microdermabrasion is another method used to help clear up side effects of acne, this method uses a diamond tipped wand. These wands are designed to glide over the skin to produce smooth results. This method is a newer method than the crystal method and is believed to provide a superior way to restore the original condition of the skin.

Regardless of which procedure is used, microdermabrasion acne methods may restore the skin from the negative effects that are often caused as a result of acne. These methods do not involve surgery and can usually provide positive results in just a few sessions. Before using any procedure it is a good idea to consult a physician or dermatologist.
