If you have acne or live with someone that does then this may not come as a surprise or shock. But in our society having acne can be a most embarrassing issue. There are many days that start off with a loud scream or heartbreaking sighs of a deep emotional ache. These can come from both men and women. Believe it or not but the source of this shock and scream and ultimate disappointment with the day is acne. In particular probably one gruesome inflamed zit that is shining brightly on their face, yes a simple clogged pore had ruined these peoples day. So now you know; having acne can hurt.

The psychological reaction to a pimple is different in every person. Some people especially teenagers will stay out of school if they have what they consider to be an ugly zit on their face. They will cancel dances and dates and hide away in their room. Even adults have been known to not go to a party or a dinner because of acne.

Acne is a painful problem to our self confidence, that is easily seen, but it can also be quite painful physically on our skin. It can burn and ache and constantly call your attention to it. If you leave it untreated it can scar. If you pop, pinch, molest and antagonize it, it can also become infected and cause a scarring reaction.

No, acne is rarely if ever a life threatening problem. But it can change your life and having acne can indeed hurt. Hormones that go into over drive certain times in our life can produce an excess of oil deposits and the dead skin we slough off combine to create an ugly blemish. It is the psychological scars that are the hardest to deal with.

Acne can affect as at any age, though it usually begins at thirteen and most likely will end sometime around nineteen years of age. However some battle acne way into adulthood. We each will have a different level of seriousness to an acne infection. This has many contributing factors and will depend on our hereditary, diet, oils we produce, bathing rituals and medications we take. Some acne can be treated at home with simply cleansing while others will have to shown to our dermatologist.

It is important for you to remember, if you have acne or do not have acne, that for some people it is a serious matter and does affect many people. It is not something to laugh at. Some people will literally lock themselves in their homes till the acne passes, giving up a lot of their life. They just cannot face the world with a blemish on their face. The acne industry sells over a hundred million dollars in products a year, that alone has to tell you how dead serious people are to eliminate acne.

Acne may not seem to be a serious matter for some, but it is an infection that can greatly affect many. There are people with acne who locks themselves up in their rooms waiting for the acne to disappear. It is a serious blemish that they cannot show to the world. Every year, ointments and acne medication has estimated sales of over a hundred million dollars. This just shows how many people are dead serious in eliminating acne.

For years doctors have been telling us that eating junk food doesn’t cause acne, and you probably know at least one person who eats candy and chocolate non-stop and still has lovely skin. But recently the medical establishment has begun to give serious consideration to how what we eat impacts our health, and our appearance.

One of the most prominent spokespeople for this cause is Dr. Nicholas Perricone, whose “Wrinkle Cure” system touts salmon as a skin-saving miracle food. What started as a fringe trend–eating fish to get a smoother face–has now blossomed into a popular diet plan, and millions of men and women have given it a go. Even Oprah has sung the praises of this pink-orange fish on her talk show. What’s the reason for the popularity of the so-called salmon diet? Simple: it works.

Why Salmon?

Salmon, along with tilapia, trout, herring and sardines, are rich in a substance called omega-3 fatty acids. Don’t balk at that term–these fats are terrific for you. In fact, they are crucial to the growth and functioning of our organs, and they supposedly help to diminish dangerous inflammation within the body. (It’s that inflammation that can trigger a host of conditions we’d rather avoid, like acne, obesity, diabetes and heart disease.) Among the different types of fish, salmon is one of the richest, chockfull of good-for-you fats and other healthful substances that keep your body functioning like a well-oiled machine.

Did you know that humans are not able to produce omega-3s? That’s why it’s so important that we obtain them from the foods we eat on a daily basis. When you eat plenty of salmon and stick to a healthy overall diet and lifestyle, you will begin to see dramatic changes in your skin’s appearance and texture. Your skin will become smoother, plumper and more moisture-rich. Blemishes will fade and you’ll regain the glow you may have had when you were a teenager. Your eyes will likely become brighter, your hair shinier and stronger, and even your mood cheerier!

How Much Should You Eat?

Make salmon (or other fatty fish) a regular part of your meal plan. Aim to have fish about 10 times per week, whether in the form of a morning omelet, a lunchtime salad, or a dinnertime fish filet. Top your whole wheat bagel with lox for a delicious and healthy “booster shot” for your skin. Grill salmon plain and top with a mango relish. There is virtually no limit to what you can do with this delicious and versatile ingredient!

Round out your nutritious lifestyle with plenty of leafy greens and antioxidant-rich fruits, such as berries. A handful of nuts is also a great addition to your daily diet plan. And don’t forget to keep the water bottle on hand–drinking plenty of water helps to flush the body of toxins and get your skin looking gorgeous.

As someone who suffered from acne during my teenage years and into adult life I know how stressful it can be to always feel self-conscious and unable to relax. Acne can be a real pressure for so many people and sometimes it can lead to very low self-esteem.

For this reason it is important to find out the reason for blotches and blemishes appearing and attempting to cure the problem permanently. It is also important to realize that acne is caused by hormonal imbalance rather than some of the other reasons you may hear. There are other factors that can lead to poor skin condition but excessive sebum which blocks your pores is the major factor in acne.

In order to deal with this there are a number of natural things you can do to start the process of clearing your skin. Firstly you need to be drinking plenty of water each day. The recommended amount is six to eight glasses so aim for this amount if you can.

You should also aim to get plenty of sleep. If you are lacking sleep your body feels stressed and your hormones will be affected. You will naturally function at your best when you are fully rested so try and make sure you get a good nights sleep to prepare for the next day.

You should also try to eat fruit and vegetables along with a complete balanced diet. This will make certain you receive all the vitamins and minerals your body needs to give you a natural glow and clear skin. Eating poor food and missing out on valuable greens will leave you looking and feeling unhealthy.

Start to implement these things into your daily routine and you should see the benefits very soon. They are an important start to clearing up your acne.

You can help prevent the occurrence of acne by taking certain preventive steps before it is formed. Such precautionary measures will reduce the probability of outbreak but does not ensure you will never experience it. The extent of the problem is determined by the nature of preventive measures taken as part of an awareness program that facilitates a better quality of response immediately after you notice the first signs of it.

Acne formation can be arrested if you have an understanding of how it forms on your face. A gland called the infundibulum exists near the hair follicles and the hair runs through this gland before reaching the surface of the skin. This gland is responsible for producing sebum which consists of a mixture of fat, keratin, and cellular material and this mixture facilitates maintenance of moisture in the skin. The sebum produced thus by the gland flows to the skin surface and spreads thereby holding the moisture on the skin.

The sebaceous glands get closed whenever there is increased production in hormones because of puberty, menstruation and increased stress levels. The sebum is retained in the blocked glands which results in the bacteria growth in those areas which produces one type of outbreak commonly found in teenagers. For treating blemishes you must be familiar with the various types of acne so that you can determine the best way of treating it.

You must wash frequently areas of the body such as face, neck, back, chest etc. that are sensitive to acne so that you can eliminate the extra sebum thereby reducing the chances of getting it. You can also reduce the surplus sebum by not using oily products such as cosmetics, hair gels etc and also washing your hair frequently; you can further reduce the chances of acne formation by practicing daily hygiene.

It is advisable to stop using abrasive skin cleaners at the onset of acne; further you must reduce the extent of scrubbing your face with a washcloth. In order to wash off excess sebum to combat breakouts you could use either alcohol swabs or swabs with benzoyl peroxide.

Dermatologists have an advantage when choosing makeup ? they know what ingredients are beneficial and which should be avoided. Finding out what makeup they wear helps us to figure out which makeup might be best for our skin as well. After all theyre not going to put anything on their skin that might cause it even a tiny bit of damage.

There are several brands of makeup that are favored by dermatologists. It might be because they feature more natural ingredients, they include ingredients that help your skin stay healthy, or they are simply high quality and beneficial to the skin. Let?s take a look at a few.

Proactiv ? The skin care line was developed by two dermatologists and the makeup is an extension of the skin care line of the same name. Designed to provide sheer coverage, the makeup also contains salicylic acid, which helps to reduce the development of acne. This isn?t inexpensive makeup, but some dermatologists recommend it because it provides that protection from the development of more acne, so it really works in tandem with the skin care line.

Neutrogena ? In recent years, this skin care line released a line of bestselling makeup. Although the line includes lipstick and eye products, the real appeal is in the foundations and powders, which feature natural ingredients and the quality that Neutrogena fans have come to expect. Neutrogena is one of the most dermatologist-recommended brands.

Avon ? This line of makeup ? previously sold only by independent Avon consultants and now available online ? is often recommended by dermatologists and many of the products are developed in conjunction with input from dermatologists. Because Avon has a huge product line, it?s best to read the product descriptions carefully. Anyone with skin issues will want to make sure the product they choose contains the beneficial ingredients they need.

You might notice that the most recommended products by dermatologists aren?t the most expensive brands. They aren?t the expensive brands sold by celebrities and that you can purchase only at high-end departments store counters. Theyre actually the brands that are going to do your skin the most good in the world.

Many of the best products are those sold at drugstores and by independent consultants (such as Mary Kay, another brand that is often looked upon favorably by dermatologists). When you purchase your makeup, you are really looking for high-quality ingredients and a mix that will work for you. In other words, what works for one person might not work for another. You have to try a few to find out which will work for your particular skin.

It?s also important to look for makeup that contains ingredients that will be beneficial. Have oily skin? Try to find makeup that contains salicylic acid, which helps to deflect the development of acne. Looking for a product with antiaging properties? Look for makeup that contains antioxidants, which help your skin to deal with the many environmental stresses it faces.

So when you go makeup shopping in the future stop and think – What would my dermatologist buy today?br
br
Did you know theres a A HREF=http://www.acneorpimples.comnatural acne cure/A that can be effective in as little as 3 days? What are you waiting for? – A HREF=http://www.acneorpimples.comhttp://www.acneorpimples.com/abr
br
If you have tried just about everything to hit the shelves to clear your skin and make you acne free then chances are you are making your acne not only worse, but longer lasting. There are tons of remedies that promote acne treatments, and although some of them are valid, many are not. If you understand what causes acne then you are on the right track to getting clear skin which is acne free.

Acne does not have to be a long suffering ordeal. Due to hormones it is perfectly normal to have acne in your teenage years, but as you get older your hormones have a way of balancing out that should alleviate the acne. If that is just not the case with you, then you may go years without knowing that acne can be gotten rid off and not necessarily with any expensive equipment or treatments. Of course this is based on mild to moderate acne. For severe acne that can cause permanent scarring it is best to see a dermatologist who may recommend a treatment that is more suited to your needs.

What you need to know is that because people are generally so obsessed with acne that many over the counter products keep saying that unless you use their cream, ointment or face wash that you cant get rid of acne. In certain cases that may be true, but with mild to moderate acne there are little ways that you can change your skin so that it will be good to you.

Sure, creams can give you clear skin that is free from acne but it may not last very long. You might even see recurrences in your acne just days or weeks after you started using the cream. It is okay to mask the acne but if your goal is to get clear skin for the rest of your life then you need to work from the inside out. Acne is not just skin deep, it deals with how you live your life, what you eat, and what you put on your face to cure the acne. Clear skin is about inner nutrition first of all. If you are eating healthy and avoiding processed foods then you are already off to a great start to getting clear skin. You also want to be sure to take the right vitamins and minerals that effectively aid in the treatment of acne. Last but not least, you want to make sure that physiologically you are functioning well.

This may not seem like an acne remedy to you, but before you run out to the store to buy the latest and greatest in acne treatments, you should consider making yourself healthy on the inside first. Eating and living healthy doesnt give you any side effects, and it is just the better way to live your life. Take a good look at your diet and lifestyle. Are you eating natural foods or highly processed foods? Are you getting any exercise? Is your body getting the needed vitamins and minerals each day? Making improvements in these areas can help ensure that when you do use acne treatments, the results last longer than just a few days.br
Blackheads are associated with growing teen years. They are known to affect 85% of the adolescents. Various studies which have been conducted to assess teenage behaviour have demonstrated that out of two-third teenagers who had this blackheads problems, only 1/3 went ahead with treatments. Others played a waiting game and allowed the blackheads to wither away on their own. In blackheads a chemical reaction takes place, which involve oxidation of Melanin. They hit you at the time when a teenager starts getting conscious of their looks. Therefore teen years are replete with many instances where in teenagers have tried to pluck it off. The damage thus caused is sometimes irreparable leaving permanent scars on the skin. These scars leave a teenager with complexes throughout their lives and it becomes difficult for them to cope up in later years. What are blackheads? Blackheads in medical terminology are known as open comedos. They in fact appear to be some kind of plug on sebaceous glands. This condition is caused by oil secreted by sebaceous glands. The only way to deal with blackheads is to have patience and consistency of treatment. If consistency of treatment is maintained then blackheads starts subsiding. Treatments The effect of treatments is visible only after some time as with blackheads any treatment has to begun slowly and results starts showing up only steadily. In some cases the effect of treatment is visible only after weeks and sometime even after months. The mild and moderate blackheads can be treated with following a regimen. However with large and very large blackheads going to physician becomes mandatory. Dermatologists normally advise for Topical or Oral antibiotics. However the function of these antibiotics or for those matter topical treatments is to take care of infection only. They normally dont contribute in elimination of blackheads altogether. To take care of extreme cases sometimes a special device named come dome extractors are used. In such a device, the skin around the blackheads is pressed so that the plug gets ruptured and all dead cells are extruded out. Blackheads will continue to cause heartburns amongst teenagers but by being aware of the problems which these are likely to cause. One can be careful and is in a position to handle the problems associated with blackheads in a more responsible and positive way. Blackheads are the most common skin disease which dermatologists grapple with. But it is also the most simple, easily curable and predominantly harmless disease. Tackling blackheads has more to do with patience than having an overnight solution. The key factor which is important here is regimen and hygiene. Getting rid of zits is a challenge that many people face, especially in their teenage years. Many treatments are expensive or have potentially damaging side effects. Prevention works better than treatment, but there are treatments that work.

To prevent zits in the first place, you need to keep your skin clean and healthy. This means regular cleansing and a healthy lifestyle. Avoid junk food, alcohol and cigarettes. Drink plenty of fluids, water is best. This will keep your skin well hydrated and prevent the build up of toxins. If you have done all of this and still suffer from acne, here are three treatments that may help.

Acetone and rubbing alcohol, when used in combination, can reduce the amount of oil on your skin and kill the bacteria that cause pimples. However, they will dry out your skin and so should really only be used on the pimple itself. If your skin gets dried out, the body will produce more oil to try to fix the problem. This in turn may lead to the formation of more pimples.

Salicylic acid reduces the amount of skin cells that are shed. Dead skin cells clog pores, which leads to zits. The less dead skin, the fewer zits. This works very best for preventing blackheads, but it will also cut down on the number of whiteheads as well.

Benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria that cause pimples. This will not unclog your pores so it alone will not prevent blackheads. It will however prevent the infections that cause blocked pores to turn into large, red blemishes.

If all else fails, you may need to see your doctor for prescription medication to help you with getting rid of zits. This should only be a last resort however, because the medications available, although usually very effective, can be expensive and have some very serious side effects.

pI have scoured the Internet for remedies on how to get rid of whiteheads and found one which is less harmful that the above 3 methods. There she stood as usual on the far side of the pub, an area only lit by the gentle flickering of candles. Who is this mystery woman who appears every Friday evening, only to disappear into the shadows of the night just before closing time?

She was the only reason I came to this dingy pub week after week. Each time hoping that this would be the night when I would finally pluck up enough courage to introduce myself to her.

My self-confidence had taken a battering over the last few years. But now it was steadily growing stronger, The light at the end of the tunnel was no longer an oncoming train.

During those occasions when our fleeting glances crossed paths, my heart raced as a tidal wave of excitement and longing flowed throughout my body.

I looked at my watch it was 22:45 the pub would be closing soon, it is now or never I said to myself. I took a deep breath and started walking over to her, rehearsing in my mind what I was going to say. Suddenly a bright light pulled me out of my trance and a distant voice shouted, Time to drink up ladies and gentlemen.

I looked into the place where she had been standing, the gentle glow of candles had been extinguished by the bright light of electric bulbs. She had gone! I kicked myself for being to slow. Once again, my Cinderella had left the ball before 11 and I glanced at the ground almost expecting to see a glass slipper.

She felt a sigh of relief as she stepped into the brisk cold night. She hated the bright lights. She felt secure in the dark shadows. Im just like a modern day vampire she thought as she sadly walked home.

She switched on the light and dimmed it to a murky glow. She walked over to her dressing table where the mirror seemed to gloat at her in disgust. She sat down and stared into it, hating what she saw and began the nightly ritual of stripping off the layers of makeup that attempted to conceal her acne.

She reached into the drawer which revealed an overwhelming collection of tubes and bottles of various acne treatments that worked so well when she was a teenager. But now years later for some unexplained reason her acne had returned and these brands no longer worked. Why dont they? She angrily thought as she slipped into bed.

She cried herself to sleep and drifted into the same dream that she had every night. In her dream she saw the mystery man in the pub gently caressing her soft silky cheeks as she tasted his sweet breath as he kissed her lips. She felt so secure in his warm embrace, a wonderful happiness only to be destroyed by the alarm clock.

During the night more spots had broken out, she new that these were caused by her make up, but without it she would be to self-conscious to leave her apartment – a miserable catch 22 situation.

Who knows, my skin my be better before next Friday, a positive thought that lasted only a fraction of a second as she prepared herself to face another miserable day.

To be continued…br
Im not quite sure that these are the natural cures for acne that anyones grandmother had in mind. And perhaps the term cure should be used very loosely… However, home acne remedies remain very popular – perhaps out of a sense of frustration from those suffering from the dreaded zit. Whether toothpaste, urine therapy, or apple cider vinegar actually work, is debatable. This article will look at the premise behind each of these options, and whether they are truly worth your time.

There are several variations to the toothpaste acne remedy. Some people swear that it alone, dabbed onto the offending zits, will clear them up. Others prefer mixing toothpaste in with several other ingredients, forming mixtures that range from simple to complex. For example, one teenager washed her face with salty water, left it on, added more salt to her face until it was entirely covered, then washed all of that off. Finally, toothpaste was applied to the pimples, and left on for a few hours, but preferably overnight.

Most of these remedies were multi-step processes, and even when other ingredients were used, they were not mixed in with the toothpaste. Like in the example above, the other steps often cleansed the face, perhaps rinsed with cold water to close the pores. Then toothpaste was added as a final step.

There were even instructions on which types of toothpaste to use. According to some, gels dont work as well, and whitening toothpastes were either unnecessary, or should be avoided. Given that baking soda also features in some other remedies, perhaps a toothpaste containing that could be used?

Will it work? Well, some of the reports from satisfied acne sufferers seem to indicate it may be worth a try, provided it isnt too harsh and irritating to your skin. It certainly isnt expensive. Some people saw results overnight, some took a few days, others longer. So, it may not be a once-off solution. One thing to be aware of is that any type of hard scrubbing of the skin can make acne worse.

Urine therapy is one that can elicit such revulsion (in me!), that it is almost hard to write about it. The theory is that ones own urine is packed with antibodies, hormones, and other goodies that are beneficial for our health. This includes vitamins and minerals that the body has excreted, because it didnt need. One article I read made the very good point that if they werent needed the first time, they will likely be excreted again the second time. That same article points out that just because urine is not toxic, does not mean it is beneficial.

Urine therapy had its origins amongst some Indian mystics, and seems to be particularly associated with the tantric philosophy. As an acne remedy, it is suggested that one massages ones urine over the affected areas. Some people leave it on overnight, assuming their partners and family can stand the smell.

The problem with urine therapy is that a lot of the justification is very unscientific and poorly supported. It is bolstered by conspiracy theories as to why this supposedly wonderful substance is ignored by the medical profession, except where scientists have extracted and tested certain elements of urine for therapeutic purposes. This does not mean, however, that therapeutic concentrations are to be found in ones own urine.

Bottom line for urine therapy with acne? There are a lot of other good alternatives out there, that dont smell, and dont have waste products mixed in with them. And people on any medications should not try urine therapy.

Apple cider vinegar is usually diluted with water, and sometimes mixed with other things, including honey and jojoba oil. There are very mixed reviews about it. Some people love it, others say that at first it seemed to make their acne worse, but then it really helped to turn it around. And others, quite a few others, say it made their skin, dry, very irritated, painful, and flakey. Those with sensitive skin seem to fare the worst, so if you do have sensitive skin, avoid apple cider vinegar at all costs.

One important point is that apple cider vinegar should be diluted. And be prepared for a rather off smell. Its probably not as noxious as urine however!

One feature of acne home remedies is that they do not work for everyone. This is true of medicine and over the counter treatments as well though. Those with sensitive skin should be the most careful, as many of these home-made treatments can be very harsh. This includes both toothpaste and apple cider vinegar. Urine therapy may work best with those who have a strong belief in it, although there are many other effective options to explore. Its worth keeping in mind that although some people report success with certain things, those successes have not been compared to other treatments in a controlled trial. It may be that other remedies may have been more effective after all.
