The benefits of following an acne diet plan have been discussed (and argued) for a long time. People that practice a holistic approach to healing have long embraced the idea that acne is actually a skin condition, not a skin disease. They believe the root cause of your acne lies in the fact that your body has little or no tolerance to elevated levels of hormones, chemicals, and/or toxins that can invade your body from many directions, including many of the foods and beverages that you consume at every meal.

I know that this sounds a bit ironic, but it is true, none the less.

The unfortunate part of this is that some people (those that have acne) are cursed with bodies that eliminate the hormone overload by emulsifying them in sebum oil (the Mother of all pimples) and secreting it out through your sebaceous glands, located in the hair follicles on your skin. This is where your acne formation begins.

For the truly unfortunate, acne outbreaks continue long after the raging hormones of adolescence have settled down. With adult acne, the process is the same, but the root cause is most often found in the chemicals that are used in everything from your clothes to the processed foods that you get at your favorite restaurant or your neighborhood grocery store. These chemicals and toxins tend to build up in your vital organs and trigger the same reaction that your teenage hormones started in your youth.

All of this ties into the wisdom of adopting an effective acne diet plan because many of the foods and beverages that you consume every day contain the very chemicals, toxins, and hormones that are causing your acne outbreaks in the first place. The plain truth is, every meal that you eat just adds more fuel to the fire.

Be all you can be, but it’s not always in the Army. I often see myself as somewhat contented with my life the way things are, but of course it’s hard to think of anything else when where are real issues to be discussed.

Still I aspire for something deeper and more meaningful.

So we’re all pelted with problems. Honestly it shouldn’t even bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be. Aspirations as kids should continue to live within us, even though it would be short-lived or as long as we could hold on to the dream. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? or can they?

1. What do I really want?
The question of the ages. So many things you want to do with your life and so little time to even go about during the day.

Find something that you are good at can help realize that small step towards improvement. Diligence is the key to know that it is worth it.

2. Should I really change?
Today’s generation has taken another level of redefining ‘self’, or at least that’s what the kids are saying. Having an army of teenage nieces and nephews has taught me that there are far worse things that they could have had than acne or maybe even promiscuity. So how does that fit into your lifestyle?

If history has taught us one thing, it’s the life that we have gone through. Try to see if partying Seventies style wouldn’t appeal to the younger generation, but dancing is part of partying. Watch them applaud after showing them how to really dance than break their bones in break-dancing.

3. What’s the bright side in all of this?
With so much is happening around us there seem to be no room for even considering that light at the end of the tunnel. We can still see it as something positive without undergoing so much scrutiny. And if it’s a train at the end of the tunnel, take it for a ride and see what makes the world go round!

4. Am I comfortable with what I’m doing?
There’s always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with which shoes, or purse, shirt and whatnot. It doesn’t take a genius to see yourself as someone unique, or else we’ll all be equally the same in everything we do. Variety brings in very interesting and exciting questions to be experimented.

5. Have I done enough for myself?
Have you, or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment in every aspect can be dangerous in large doses, but in small amounts you’ll be able to see and do stuff you could never imagine doing.

6. Am I happy at where I am today?
It’s an unfair question so let it be an answer! You love being a good and loving mom or dad to your kids, then take it up a notch! Your kids will love you forever. The same goes with everyday life!

7. Am I appealing to the opposite sex?
So maybe I don’t have an answer to that, but that doesn’t mean I can’t try it, though. Whether you shape-up, change the way you wear your clothes or hair, or even your attitude towards people, you should always remember it will always be for your own benefit.

8. How much could I have?
I suppose in this case there is no such things on having things too much or too little, but it’s more on how badly you really need it. I’d like to have lots of money, no denying that, but the question is that how much are you willing to work for it?

9. What motivates me?
What motivates you? It’s an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one of the may be the hardest part. It’s not like you can’t have one serving of your favorite food in a buffet and that’s it. Just try it piece by piece.

10. What Really Makes You Tick?
So? What really makes you tick? You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to realize that attaining something that may seem very difficult is already giving up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it’s something that you really want.

In the midst of these physical and emotional evolutions, a teen’s self-esteem can be compromised. Parents can take certain steps in order to ensure that a child’s self-esteem is not affected by the turbulent teenage years.

The best way to improve your teen’s self-esteem is to take an active role in your child’s life. By knowing his or her interests, friends, strengths, and weaknesses, you will be aware of any problems that may arise.

Starting from a young age, instill a positive attitude in your child. Children who have a great sense of self-worth are more apt to blossom into teenagers with a great sense of self-worth. Take time to talk with your teen instead of talking to your teen. If your child believes his or her opinion or thoughts have an impact in the home front, that individual is more apt to have a greater self-esteem. Allowing your teen to have a say in decisions that affect the entire family will further impress a sense of self-worth, thus positively affect his or her self-esteem.

Children learn by example, and teenagers are no different.

Teens whose parents showcase high self-esteem are more likely to exhibit self-esteem. Conversely, parents with low self-esteem or who constantly question their self-worth will pass those traits on to their children simply by their actions. The way you interact with your friends, family members, and colleagues will rub off on your children.

Individuals with low self-esteem set poor examples for their teens and should not be surprised when their teens exhibit similar actions. Children are like a sponge, so take care not to comment negatively towards yourself or others. Many teens with issues regarding their physical appearance learn these behaviors from home. Television, movies, and music play a huge part in any teenager’s life. These outlets seem obsessed with a pre-conceived idea of perfection that will most likely differ from that of the average individual. Take time to speak with your teen regarding these issues.

Interaction with your teenager will allow you first-hand information on any problems he or she may be having and make an attempt to remedy these situations. Often, teenagers are quite sensitive about their appearance due to acne or other issues. If this is the case, consider making an appointment with a dermatologist who will be able to remedy the situation. Similarly, your teen may be interested in changing his or her appearance to best fit a burgeoning identity, but may be hesitant to approach a parent. Remember, teenagers straddle the line between child and young adult.

Although they may yearn to be an adult, the child part still needs reassurance from a parent. If you as a parent feel a requested physical transformation will not benefit your teen, make a compromise. Often, teens are looking to be outrageous in order to push boundaries set by parents. Instead of lowering your teen’s self-esteem by creating a confrontation, create an atmosphere of discussion and compromise.

Open communication cannot be stressed enough. Take time to talk to your teen about their friends, classes, activities, or interests. Teach your teen to accentuate the positive instead of focusing on attributes they see as weak or negative. Instill a sense great self esteem at a young age that will continue with your teen as he or she grows.

You may wish to enroll your child in self-esteem building classes or extra curricular activities that will boost their self-worth. Whatever the case, taking an active part in your teen’s life is the best way to see them through this transitional time in their lives with their self-esteem intact.

Should You Treat Your Endometriosis With Hormone Therapy?

Researchers are still not sure what causes endometriosis, but it is clear that the female sex hormone estrogen, which stops being produced during menopause, feeds the growth of abnormal endometrial tissue.

Unfortunately, for most young teens and women in their reproductive years, menopause is still many years away, which means they are left to deal with the painful symptoms of endometriosis, with no relief in sight. Thus, what is often recommended for many non-menopausal women is hormone therapy.

Hormone therapy is one of the most successful treatments for endometriosis, as it helps around 80-90% of the women who take it. Hormone therapy controls estrogen, helping to alleviate pain caused by endometriosis. It can also reduce the size and amount of endometrial implants, stopping endometriosis from spreading.

However, it is important to note that hormone therapy does not improve a woman’s fertility. Therefore, if you are concerned about infertility or wish to become pregnant, these therapies are not an option for you. Moreover, young teenage girls, who have not reached the end of puberty, are usually unable to take this form of treatment, as it poses a risk to their development.

In addition, there are various types of hormone therapy and each woman responds to treatment differently. Furthermore, like taking any medication, there are always pros and cons that need to be carefully considered.

The following is information about the most popular forms of hormone therapies used to treat endometriosis:

Birth control pills – This is the most popular therapy and is considered safe to use for long term use. A woman can generally use it until menopause. Birth control pills are designed to control menses and stop ovulation. Without ovulation, endometrial implants can no longer grow and will shrink.

Birth control pills lower the risk of ovarian cancer, and are generally safe for most women. This therapy is available in pill, skin patch or vaginal ring form. It has few negative side effects including headaches, nausea, breast tenderness, depression, mood swings, and irregular, light or absent menses. It also increases the risk of blood clots and slightly increases the risk of breast cancer.

Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) – This therapy decreases estrogen levels to those experienced after menopause, and can only be taken for the short term (no more than 6 months). GnRH-a increases the risk of bone loss, which can cause osteroporosis, and is why it is usually taken with progestin to help prevent thinning of bones and other menopausal symptoms. GnRH-a is often used to help prolong the relief of endometriosis pain after surgery, as it works to prevent the return of endometriosis.

High dose progestin – This therapy is taken in the form of pills or a shot. It is designed to produce progestin levels in the body that mirror pregnancy. This therapy ceases monthly ovulation, and decreases estrogen which allows endometriosis growths to shrink, alleviating pain in most women. Progestin can be taken for long term (usually no more than 2 years).

The side effects of progestin include depression, bloating, breast tenderness, weight gain, light or absent menses, risk of bone loss if taken for longer than 2 years, and fertility can take up to a year or longer before it returns.

Danazol – This therapy decreases estrogen levels and increases the level of androgen (male) hormones. Danazol also puts the body into a menopause-like state. Although it effectively shrinks endometrial growths and reduces pain, its side effects can include muscle cramps, weight gain, acne, skin rash, oily hair and skin, decrease in breast size, facial and body hair, and even voice deepening. To make matters worse, most of these male-transforming side effects can be permanent.

Danazol is often short term therapy, and is usually the last doctors will recommend.

Acne is a common skin condition that causes discomfort, embarrassment and, in some cases, pain and irritation. There are many misconceptions surrounding the causes and prevention of acne, including how diet can affect the frequency and severity of acne breakouts. While acne has traditionally been a common complaint of adolescents and teenagers, many people struggle with the condition throughout their adult lives. Acne affects more than ninety percent of the world’s population. It is not limited by age, or race, or sex. Acne is the most common skin disorder treated by dermatologists, with most patients being teenagers and adults.

Some scientific research has suggested that acne is caused by physiological factors like hormones and genetics. Others believe that environmental factors including bacteria can cause breakouts. For many years, it has also been debated that diet may contribute to the acne condition. Acne and diet is an issue that has spent many years under the spotlight.

Although some dermatologists claim that diet has nothing to do with the formation of acne, many still hold that acne and diet do indeed have a certain link. It does appear that the food we eat may well play a role in the development of acne.

Certain studies have shown that eating refined carbohydrates and sugars can lead to a surge of insulin, as well as an insulin-like growth factor known as IGF-1. When IGF-1 is released in the body, it can lead to an excess of male hormones called androgens. These hormones are deemed to be the most potent cause of acne formations. Further, the acne and diet connection maintains that when an excess amount of male hormones is produced, the pores of the skin will secrete sebum, an oily or greasy substance that generally pulls the attention of acne-causing bacteria. In addition, this process triggers the IGF-1 to cause skin cells known as keratinocytes to duplicate and multiply. This activity further contributes to the formation of acne.

Studies conducted on residents of the island of Papua, New Guinea, and the people of Paraguay have contributed further to the link between acne and diet. The results of this particular study led researchers to believe that a diet rich with grains can contribute to acne. Limited grains can optimize health benefits, and a no-grain diet may be beneficial in preventing acne.

The acne and diet issue remains one of the hottest topics in the medical field, however lack of funding may hinder the amount of actual research that is being conducted. Some critics have gone as far as to claim that doctors and dermatologists will claim that diet does not affect acne, so that they may sell more pharmaceutical treatments.

Poor nutrition contributes to many diseases. Of course, a healthy diet is important to overall well being, so it only stands to reason that eating a proper diet will help keep your skin healthy, too. If you find yourself in a constant battle against acne, remember to fight the physiological factors with a proper diet, and use the right treatments to combat the environmental aggravators.

Researchers at southern California’s IGU have released a study indicating that men who own a memory foam bed from the manufacturer Sleep Aid are more than twice as likely to score with chicks, when compared to men who own outdated inner spring beds. The effect is particularly profound on men for whom dating is usually difficult. Since the release of the study, there has been a rash of thefts at mattress stores across the country, mostly carried out by adolescent males with chronic acne and middle aged men who live with their mothers.
Scientists working in the field of social psychology have long known that Sleep Aid memory foam beds have powerfully persuasive properties. However, the profundity of what scientists are calling “The Sleep Aid Effect” was not fully known until the release of the university’s groundbreaking study. Says research coordinator Dr. Phelps Carter, “for years there has been substantial evidence to suggest that Sleep Aid beds could get you a lot of action, but we were simply unprepared for the sheer breadth of their effectiveness.”
News of the research has led to a rash of often brazen Sleep Aid memory foam bed thefts across the country. Said one store clerk who wished to remain anonymous, “before I knew what was happening, five teenage boys had come running into the display area. One of them mumbled something about how they were ‘so getting to second base with this thing’, and they just picked up the mattress and ran.” The suspects were unarmed and were quickly apprehended by police in the mall parking lot, while trying to strap the mattress to the roof of their mom’s station wagon.
Exactly why Sleep Aid memory foam beds have such a powerful effect on women is still not fully known. Head researcher for the IGU study, Dr Janice Hawkings said while there is still much to learn about the precise causes of this phenomenon, “we can point to some demonstrated causalities, and their troubling effects.” Dr. Hawkings worries that the “The Sleep Aid Effect” is so powerful, in some cases it has caused women to make choices they otherwise might not.
As Dr Hawkings explains, “owning a memory foam bed is still somewhat unusual. They function as an interesting conversation piece, and so many women are curious to see one in person. Unfortunately, once the potential mate has entered the owner’s bedroom and felt the luxurious comfort and spectacular support that Sleep Aid beds offer, certain neurological processes are interrupted, leaving her feminine wiles significantly diminished.” It is this process which is leading a large number of intelligent and attractive women to succumb to what Dr. Hawkings calls the “Out of Their League Effect,” causing the victim to begin making out with men who would normally fall well below their standards.
Indeed, the statistics bear out such an assessment. According to the study, out of fifty female participants classified as “Dime Pieces”, or perfect 10s, more than seventy percent were dating men classified as “Level III Tools” those who rated below the 4 mark on a 1-10 scale.
The research indicates that owning a Sleep Aid bed can help the owner make 53% more personal connections, without traditional courtship rituals like expensive dinners and drinks at the bar. This is quite good news for men classified as having “little or no game”, an estimated 32 % of the male population. Dr Carter explains it this way, “For many people, a memory foam bed is a considerable novelty. As such, they can act as an effective catalyst for conversation and thusly, for the initiation of courtship. This enables the wooer, on average, to achieve in-bedroom status with a 28% reduction in alcohol expenditure and only modest culinary offerings.”
Scientists at IGU encourage women who encounter Sleep Aid beds to use caution, and bear in mind that the heavenly softness and almost decadent weightless comfort of Sleep Aid beds has little or no relation to the men that own them. While any Sleep Aid owner is likely to be intelligent, having purchased the best sleep surface known to man, he may not necessarily make the perfect mate.
